MISCELLANEOUS
Despite being the granddaughter of Cavallone Decimo, Bella has absolutely nothing to do with the mafia. In fact, she tends to ignore her mafia heritage. In fact, she doesn't even attend school using her father's name - she uses her mother's since it is much less likely to be associated with the mafia. To be honest, Bella was clueless about why her mother had married the man. His lineage wasn't exactly doing them any favors. Sure, it provided them with enough money that they would never have to actually work for anything but that had been the extent of it.
Sometimes, Bella is surprised that her friends have yet to figure out that the man living in her house was her father...until she recalls the fact that she told her friends that her father was dead. The fact that they were quick to believe her was also a bit shocking. She did live in the Cavallone manor, after all, despite her wishes to stay out of the family business...well, that's where she lives when she's not attending school in Japan - where jer grandfather's "little brother" had moved to when he passed on his title. Her father's reasoning behind it was that she was still a minor despite the fact that she had essentially been taking care of herself since she was eleven - which was around the time that her mother had been assassinated by a rival family.
One might wonder why her mother's murder didn't cause her to actually become involved with the mafia - but, if they actually knew her mother, they would understand why. There was a reason that Bella and her mother had lived outside of the manor until Bella turned eleven even though her mother and father were happily married to one another. Bella's mother had never wanted Bella to be involved with her the family business. Even if she wanted to avenge her mother's death, Bella didn't become involved with the business because she knew her mother didn't want that for her.
Instead of becoming more involved with her family, Bella tried to distance herself from them. The only contact she really has with her father - who had pretty much dragged her mother into his world - was when she needed something signed...and when she needed to identify the man who had killed the woman who raised her.
People might think that Bella is cold for not associating herself with her father. Those people don't understand her, though. It's not like she wants to act like he doesn't exist. He's her father, after all, and she loves him more than anything. However, she knows that it hurts him to look at her. She knows that whenever he sees her, all he can see is her mother's face. The fact that he can't look at his own daughter without seeing the face of his dead wife hurts Bella more than anyone could possibly imagine.
Please don't misunderstand her. She wants to get along with her father. Really, she does. However, as long as all her father can see is her mother's face, Bella doesn't think that will happen anytime soon.
