PERSONALITY
Positives
• Altair is quite possibly one of the most loyal people one would ever meet. Once he’s formed a bond, it’s there for life unless one does something monumentally stupid and offensive to break it permanently.
• Outgoing as Altair is, he has no problem in interacting with people and making friends no matter where he goes.
• He’s also quite compassionate, because he thinks that everyone deserves to be equal and to be helped even before the horrible things in his life had occurred. Those experiences only reinforced this belief.
• Now that he’s grown out of his awkward teenager phase –for the most part- he’s gotten a hold of this socializing thing and has become very suave. There’s another reason why he became so suave, but for the life of him he can’t remember who or what prompted the change.
• He somehow manages to combine suaveness with a certain playful air that just makes him so likeable. It’s as if he’s almost never serious.
• He is quite optimistic, always looking at the silver lining instead of the downsides. It’s one of the things that keep him going after everything that’s happened to him.
• It isn’t obvious, but Altair is very much a visionary and always plans for the future of his clan before and after he takes back what is rightfully his.
•While he’s always been very adaptable, his experiences in life have honed that to a razor-sharp edge. If there’s anything that he is, he is a survivor.
• Unsurprisingly, he’s very protective of the people he actually cares for, partially because it comes as second nature to him and partially because he’s already lost so much in his life.
Negatives
• If Altair had anything that could be considered a fatal flaw, it’s that he’s way too stubborn for his own good. He doesn’t know when to quit or back down at all.
• Not only that, but he’s also very vindictive and always wants revenge against those that wronged him. It’s usually only directed to those who lose his trust and loyalty, with Saverio being the biggest target.
• This impulsive guy tends to leap before he thinks about what he’s getting into, causing more than his fair share of problems.
• Despite his impulsiveness, spending the latter half of his life struggling and on the run has made him very stingy with his money, partially as a lesson to him by his elders and partially because he doesn’t like overspending at all.
• Despite the suaveness, he’s unfortunately quick-tempered, especially if one finds the right buttons to push. It’s initially red-hot and fiery, but when truly furious it runs ice cold like the arctic.
• He has been hiding from the false Shimon for so long that being secretive has become an ingrained habit. Getting concrete information about himself aside from the basics out from this guy is harder than finding a needle in a haystack.
• Despite what his innocent appearance or his quick-temper suggest, Altair is actually a very sly individual and prefers to use his wits when solving a problem. A bit too much, all things considered.
• Another thing you won’t expect from someone like him? Very, very deep down inside he’s actually a covert pervert, though he will always fervently deny it.
•Although he’s optimistic, he’s fairly paranoid about Saverio and his guardians, and for good reason.

MISCELLANEOUS
This man has not always been Altair Stavros, despite what he might claim otherwise. The name is in fact one of the many ruses he had created in order to protect himself until he is able claim revenge and his birthright as well as clean the names of himself and the innocent members of his family, if there are any who remain.
So what exactly is his birthright? Well, to put it in the simplest way possible, he is in fact the true boss of the Neo Shimon Famiglia. Born as Salvatore Kozato to two loving and doting parents, it seemed as if he had the almost-perfect idyllic life with family and relatives despite the fact that they were Mafioso. And indeed, that was true for the early years of his life when everyone still thought that it was his brother who was going to inherit the Boss position of their famiglia.
Well, almost was the key word. There were still the typical childish competitions that one would expect from a pair of siblings. However, Salvatore was always at an extreme disadvantage in most of their competitions due to their large age gap as well as Saverio’s unusually ruthless and cruel attitude towards his sibling and even his other friends. Even then, there always seemed to be eyes watching them and judging their every move. The young Salvatore always thought that it was just his imagination, but in truth there really were people watching them, namely his parents and grandparents.
The first inkling of this emerged when the Neo Shimon Terzo finally made a decision and declared the eight-year old Salvatore as her official heir to her position instead of Saverio like everyone had expected. There was much clamour and outrage as to her sudden and controversial choice, but the greatest came from Saverio and the people he had already personally hand-picked in anticipation of being announced as the heir. Despite a lot of people clamouring for her to change her decision, she remained firm in keeping Salvatore as her heir because she thought that he was far more fit for the position than his older brother.
In response, Saverio became much harsher to his brother and the guardians that their mother had already chosen for the latter. Salvatore tried his best to appease his brother, but to no avail as he only got even angrier at him. That got him frustrated as well, setting off multiple rounds of fighting and bickering that always ended with Salvatore on the losing end. It got so bad that their mother had to forcibly stop them and make them promise to behave in order to present a unified face for their famiglia.
That seemed to work, with Saverio resorting to outright ignoring his younger brother instead of fighting with him despite Salvatore’s attempts to patch up their relationship. He never stopped trying even though his parents tried their hardest to keep them separate by making him focus on all of the things that he had to learn before he became boss and making the lessons far more intense than what they would have given to him otherwise so that he won’t have the energy to bug his older brother.
However, the young Salvatore was successfully fully distracted when they started teaching him how to use his Earth Flames, at an age earlier than his brother. Unbeknownst to him or his parents though, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Saverio. In retaliation for the blatant favouritism they were showing to his younger brother, he decided to take the title and the power for himself through force if his mother wouldn’t give it up peacefully. To that end, he made a deal with a group called the Annullare – they help him take over his famiglia and in exchange he will ally with them and betray the Vongola.
No one was aware of Saverio’s betrayal until it was too late. When Salvatore was 12, Saverio and his allies ambushed the Shimon main compound in the dead of the night and assassinated almost all of them. However, the parents were able to put up a fight and stall for time, allowing Salvatore to escape from their property using a secret passageway that they never taught to their other son.
Using what his parents taught him, Salvatore evaded his pursuers and ran for the safest place that he knew- his grandfather’s home in Italy. It took him several weeks of hitchhiking, keeping to very remote places hiding, and even using several aliases before he managed to reach Italy. He was able to reach the town where his grandfather lived, but by that point he was so starved and malnourished that he collapsed in front of the only dojo in town. Luckily, the old woman living there took pity on him and took him in. Heck, she even nursed him back to health despite his protests, making him feel guilty when he had to lie to her and say that his name was Edmund Dantes, an alias he took from one of his favourite book characters.
Once he was back on his feet, Salvatore –now known as Edmund to the people in town- looked for his grandfather Enma. It didn’t take long for him to find his grandfather living in an estate a bit ways from town, and surprisingly the old lady –who he learned was named Yuni- just let him go there by himself, though the wink confused him.
When Salvatore arrived, he was nearly killed by his grandfather’s guardians before the old man himself came out and decided to let him tell his side of the story. Once he did so, his grandfather actually decided to believe him, as did his most of his guardians, as they didn’t trust Saverio all that much and the grandfather knew the boy well enough to know that he wouldn’t lie about something this grave. His grandfather then decided to have one of his guardians’ kids take the boy in and have him live with said guardian, because Saverio would come looking to him first- in fact, he already had a few weeks ago.
That was the start of Salvatore’s second life as Edmund Dantes, adopted son of one of the guardians’ children. As part of his grandfather’s plan to hide him and assimilate him into town, he had him enrolled into the local school and was advised to blend in and stay invisible. That was the first place where he had seen a particular pretty green-haired girl named Caelys Colère, though he was too paranoid to actually talk to anyone since they might be agents of his brother in disguise. Well, that and his Italian was terrible since he had only started learning it very recently.
He still visited the old woman who had taken care of him and even watched a couple of practices when he wasn’t being tutored by his grandfather in the ways of the Earth Flame. During one of his visits, he saw the girl again and since she was alone this time he approached her on a whim and started imitating her. He made a fool of himself in the process, but he got her attention, which was what he wanted. It was a terrible introduction, but since she had some awesome moves that he’d never seen before he kept bugging her anyway for lessons even though his grandfather was also giving him lessons. They were about his flames and boring school stuff so they don’t count. It took months, but she broke down and let him train with her even though she had a funny way of showing it.
Though Salvatore was a year older than her, Edmund Dantes was her age. As part of his disguise, he was held back a year so that it would be a bit more difficult for his brother to find him. That worked to his advantage as it allowed him to stay with his first friend –and probably best friend- throughout middle school and part of high school. Though he would have loved to make many friends like he used to, circumstances demanded that he make as few as possible and keep invisible. That was easy to do during middle school, where people mostly left the weirdo and his even weirder friend alone. However, come high school it started to get much harder as he was slowly starting to notice girls while girls were definitely noticing him after his first major growth spurt in puberty.
Salvatore couldn’t afford more people infiltrating his circle though, so he doubled his efforts in keeping himself isolated despite what he felt on the matter. To keep his mind off things, he focused on his training and the friends he had, because by that point he had learned how to control and manifest his flames without a ring, which meant that he was going to get to the exciting stuff. However, he wasn’t able to devote himself entirely, because the combination of puberty, hormones, and his own feelings led to a crush on Caelys. He tried to ignore it at first, but then it got him so distracted that even his training was affected so his grandfather told him to face whatever it was that was bothering him and get it over with or else he’d regret it. Of course, had his grandfather known what exactly was bothering him he would have never let him go through with it, but that was the beauty of it.
It took a while, but Salvatore finally managed to confess his attraction to Caelys. Multiple times at that. However, she avoided answering with a definite yes or no the few times he managed to spit it out, though that didn’t stop him from waiting until he had a definite answer. It took a while, but he finally got a yes for her. The next few weeks that followed were some of the best he’d ever had since his life had fallen apart, though it was always marred by the nagging guilt at hiding the truth about himself.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. One day, he was walking home with his girlfriend after a particularly gruelling practice with his grandfather involving a new technique that left his fists severely injured (said girlfriend had asked about it and he passed it off as training injuries, which was true) when they were suddenly attacked by people from out of nowhere. He tried to shield her despite his injuries, only to be beaten severely into unconsciousness.
The next thing he remembered was waking up at the hospital, where his grandfather and his guardians were watching him. He was too drugged to say anything though, so he just smiled at them weakly while his grandfather berated him for being so careless before he fell asleep. He spent the next few weeks alternating between the conscious and the unconscious worlds, sometimes seeing his grandfather, sometimes his guardians, the doctors, or this one person with sparkly yellow hands and lights by his bedside.
After those few weeks, he was finally stable enough to remain awake. The doctors thought that it would have taken months and were baffled, but his family remained quiet on the subject. However, they did report that the massive head trauma he had suffered might have caused some limited amnesia, though they didn’t know exactly what he had lost. Instead of dwelling on that ominous subject, he was subjected to physical therapy, which went unusually fast because there was someone there with Sun flames accelerating his healing progress without anyone other than his grandfather knowing.
That was when he was allowed visitors… and when the people around him figured out exactly what he had forgotten. Or rather… who- Caelys, his girlfriend. For some reason, the head trauma had removed all memories of her (and as he would later find out a fair chunk of the few good memories he had with his older brother as well). He was completely unable to recall her name, but for some reason seeing her made him feel warmer and his heart beat faster.
Aside from the one time she visited, he also had another visitor. This one was far more alarming because he only visited when his family wasn’t there and he never really talked for a while, only stared at him. And when he finally did talk, he wished that he hadn’t because the very first words out of his mouth was that Saverio had finally seen through his grandfather’s ruse and tracked it down. He wanted to say that it was a lie, but the man had produced evidence that he was telling the truth, making him panic. Once the man had gotten his attention, he made him an offer- he will hide him if he was willing to tell him what really happened all those years ago at the Shimon estate as well as the truth about his brother and his guardians.
Salvatore was suspicious and didn’t agree immediately, but upon the prodding of his grandfather he decided to take the man up on his offer with the condition that he train him while he hid him because he wanted revenge on Saverio for reasons that he would explain later on. Surprisingly, the man instantly agreed as long as Salvatore would obey him without question during the training. After agreeing to those terms, the man introduced himself as Arashi Arca and then whisked him away towards a very remote place where no one would think to look for him- a very remote village within the Bayan Har mountain range, China.
Once he was there, his healing was accelerated even further, now including chemicals and machines in the equation as well, cutting down his recovery time to a little less than a month. Once that was over, his personal hell began as he was thrown into the most hellish training of his life, led by Arashi and the monks they were staying with. At first he was reluctant about the training and did it half-heartedly because he just saw it as pure torture, but as soon as news of his grandfather being sent into a coma because of Saverio reached his ears, he decided to throw himself into the training despite the blood, sweat, and tears.
After over a year of training in the remote mountains, Saverio had revealed his true face to the mafia world at large and betrayed the Vongola after the ring battles, proving him right and a lot of other people wrong. After he had gotten out of the hospital due to the beating he received from multiple people, Arashi and a couple of other people decided to move him from the mountain ranges and towards the epicentre of the on-going mess- Naminori. Why? Because they had received confirmation that some of Salvatore’s real guardians were residing there as of now, and now that Saverio revealed himself then they had no choice but to speed up the timetable in getting Salvatore his position back. It also works as training even though moving the most important piece there is probably extremely dangerous.
In the present, Salvatore was now settling in Naminori under another new name and identity after having some time to get used to his new name. This time he was Altair Stavros, a recent immigrant from Spain who just lost his parents, one of whom was Greek. He still continues his training under the watchful eye of Arashi and the very few other people in the know while he begins his search for his missing guardians.
- All of his life, Altair was forced to study Physics at an advanced and accelerated rate in order to understand the nature of his powers, though it did help that he was naturally good at it and Math. As such, though he has only graduated high school his knowledge of physics is at a level comparable to that of a PhD in the field.
- He always wears heavy weights during his day to day life, including combat. A sign of him getting serious is him taking them off because he fights best without them.
- He’s an amazing cook despite never having had formal training. He’s easily gourmet level due to a combination of talent, passion, a ton of practice, and the love of food.
- Out of necessity and sometimes out of interest, he has learned multiple languages. Aside from the Greek and Japanese that he grew up with, he also learned Chinese, English, Italian, French, and Spanish.
- He only managed to finish high school. He would have started college but then the attack happened and suddenly he just didn’t have the time for it anymore. Maybe someday, when all of this is behind him.
- He can’t remember why but he loves working on various types of vehicles and riding them. He’s a fan of racing in particular and is a total gearhead.
- He also performs on the side when his two primary choices are unavailable, and he’s very good at both. At the very least it’s popular with the ladies.
- He can tell what a woman’s three sizes are by sight no matter how many layers of clothing they are wearing. He’s not telling anyone just how he figured out how to do that, either.
- He was born ambidextrous and takes full advantage of it, though he keeps up the pretence of preferring a hand while in-character.
- He is at an average height of 5’10” (178 cm). However, he’s heavier than the norm at 195 lbs (88.5 kg) due to his additional muscular bulk from all of his training.
- It is unnoticeable unless you get a really close look, but there are flecks of blue in his otherwise emerald green eyes. They get more prominent in HDWM.

- Hyper Dying Will Mode – Hyper Dying Will Mode (HDWM) is a calmer, stamina-based version of Dying Will Mode (DWM). It works by releasing the internal limiters that the user places on one’s body unconsciously, allowing the user to use his full potential and power. His grandfather was the one to show him how to access DWM as well as tell him what he needed to do in order to go into HWDM, but it was Arashi’s tutelage and constant pushing that allowed him to finally exceed the five-minute limit and reach HWDM.
HDWM enables him to enter a calm, almost serene state that clears his mind for combat, though he doesn’t get hyper intuition like those of the Vongola bloodline. However, the huge release of Earth flames as well as the constant flow of Earth flames around him distorts the local space around him due to the constantly moving and shifting gravity. The distortion isn’t strong enough to deflect attacks, but it is strong enough to completely warp and tear at illusions close to him.
This mode increases the strength of Altair’s flames several-fold, making all of his techniques stronger while in this mode. This has the bizarre side-effect of changing his flames’ appearance from normal reddish-brown flames to compact, detailed text. The major benefit of this mode though is the increased and refined control that allows him to manipulate gravity with a thought instead of relying on moves and gestures from his limbs. This control allows him to get rid of the side-effects of Belligero, allowing him to punch at maximum power without the fear of breaking his own bones.
However there is still a trade-off, namely that he feels exhausted and basically death warmed-over after getting out of this mode. He can force himself to use it more than once, but at this level doing so will send him right into a coma because of the extreme stress on his body and spirit. It’s compounded by the fact that he has no ring to help him control and direct his flames like most others would, only his will.
In HDWM, Altair’s irises lighten to such a degree that they are now teal instead of his normal emerald green. Curiously though, instead of his pupil lightening like it does on other HDWM users, it changes shape into a compass with four points and an empty center – the symbol of the Shimon famiglia and undeniable proof as to his true heritage as Enma’s grandson. His Earth flames sprout onto his forehead and take a three-pronged shape that is somewhat akin to a bull’s head with one of the prongs pointing down and two curving to the side like actual horns. These flames are actually expressive and become even more horn-like when he’s mad, and are also the only flames of his that don’t turn into compressed text.

He always has this with him just in case something that he can’t handle normally occurs. He doesn’t like using them since it’s his ace against Saverio and would prefer to keep it secret, but he will use them if necessary. He prefers HDWM because he’s saner, but he’s more prone to using the normal DWM if possible. He takes one pill for DWM, and two for HDWM.
Belligero (To be in a state of war) – This was a technique that he had been imagining since he was young and was first introduced to the concept of gravity by his mother. It took years to achieve and even more to hone to the deadly state that it was now, with the help of his two main teachers as well as quite a bit of fiction and physics to make it a reality.
Most techniques of the Earth flame focus on the long-range aspects of it, while this one focuses on the close-range aspect. This is done by using his own body as a conduit for his flames, allowing him to manipulate the gravity around his body and anything he touches directly for a variety of effects. This allows him to do things normally beyond the human body like jumping many feet up in the air, walking on walls and ceilings, fly around in the sky, and many more things that is only limited by his imagination. He can also use it to wield objects that one normally can’t even move as weapons or projectiles, along with even more applications involving altering the gravitational pull on an object –and therefore its weight- through touch.
The main use of this ability is to increase the force of his blows exponentially through gravity manipulation. However, since he doesn’t increase his durability along with the strength of his blows, he has a limit on how much he can increase the force before his limbs start getting damaged as well. At ½ of the maximum power he can generate, his limbs start to bruise. At any amount of force above 2/3 without any protection on his limbs, his bones will start fracturing or even breaking with every strike.

Gravita Della Terra (Gravity of the Earth) – This was an ability that was personally taught to him by Enma, his grandfather. Through a lot of training under Enma as well as Arashi, Altair has mastered the ability to use his flames to create and compress gravitons into a massive sphere of gravity that has gravity equivalent to that of a star of that size. These are powerful enough to suck anything near it and require a very great deal of force to push oneself away from it (or a powerful enough gravity counter-push) if they aren’t the user. These spheres can be used to alter trajectories of attacks as well.
The user can also use these spheres to immobilize a target by creating it around them or by stopping the trajectory of objects or attacks to the user altogether. The former requires hollow spheres and actually require fewer flames to create, but more control and concentration. (Gravita della Terra – Reborn! Wiki)

- These specially-made gauntlets and greaves were given to him by Arashi to counteract the major flaw in his main fighting ability. They protect his arms and legs (hands and feet included) from the worst of the damage when he uses anything above his limit when not in HDWM, as well as enhancing the damage a little. However, he still has to be careful as it only lessens the damage and not remove it entirely like HDWM does, so he would still have to deal with bruises and even torn flesh in some cases.
