In her estranged mindset, she is defensive, protective, a mother bear to her comrades when in reality she is akin to the Queen of Hearts would snap a neck over some small misfortune on the part of those around her. She’s been manipulated over the years to hate and be angry in a defensive manner causing her to be more than just passive aggressive towards certain people.
More than that, the fashion world around her has contorted Avril as well. She can be unnecessarily catty, someone that readily twist around a situation should she feel threatened by competition. While her professionalism stays up in public, she has the tendency to be surprisingly nasty towards competition behind closed doors. In truth, some part of Avril is aware of herself, knows what she is doing is wrong, but knows not how to be any other way to fit the situation. MISCELLANEOUS
History: Born the eldest daughter of the eldest daughter of Adelheid Suzuki, Avril was all but expected to inherit the role of Glacier Guardian from her first breaths of life onwards, and as such, she was the favorite of her immediate family early on. Preened and pampered as a child on the Shimon island, she received everything her heart could desire and more as her parents held back nothing from. Even as her parents had a number of children after her, five boys to be exact, she was almost terribly the favorite (especially after the fourth boy and she still remained the only girl). Despite this, or possibly because of this, she was relatively close with her siblings and parents alike, and wherein jealousy might have formed with the boys, Avril’s easy going demeanor and natural charisma seemed to keep it from out bursting frequently. In most sense of the word, she was a decent older sibling- if a bit materialistic and conceited.
Avril enjoyed home schooling starting from the time words became sentences, and she grew a rather fantastical love of the arts early on. Visual designs and music could captivate her for hours on end- when she wasn’t just a little paranoid that one of her brothers was about to tackle her into some play fighting, of course. Holidays were spent traveling for the family, and through seeing the various beautiful things of the world, Avril’s interest in it only grew all the more. There were a few instances where terror at being separated from her family during this time would strike, but nothing truly terrible ever happened once her family retraced their steps again and found her standing in front of something that had caught her attention.
Her flame manifested itself when she was eight and during a game with her brothers, and shortly thereafter, she was denoted a little ‘ice princess’ by her parents (though to her father’s credit, she’d always been his princess and the addition of an adjective was just something extra cutesy). As time went on, she showed promise in mastering her flames, her capacity to use ice in various ways growing as she learned the science behind such power. Her flame became an art form to her, and her growing interest in structure and order of the world channeled itself into ice sculptures. She grew a perpetual love of snowboarding during this time, sometimes coming up with creative ways to do so when they didn’t have time to stop and go travel somewhere cold enough.
As Avril grew, she made friends with various other Shimon children on the island, one of whom was an ambitious Saverio Kozato who eventually asked her to be his Glacier guardian after seeing her skill in flame. She accepted rather readily, her parents not needing to push her at all into the decision, and intermingled rather quickly with the other guardians growing to be a big sister of the group. Her loyalty only grew as she aged and got stronger still, often doing more and more to increase not only her flame strength but physical strength as well. The girl’s love of art forms became her desire to transmute more and more complicated flame works, and while it took a lot out of her both physical and mentally, Avril had fun.
However, that all changed when rather than Saverio, his younger brother Salvatore, was named heir, and the entire chosen guardian set was perpetually thrown out. For the first time in her life, Avril found herself ….truly angry. Her parents tried not to show their disappointment, but her brothers never let her live it down. She could probably have dealt with that, but what truly pushed her buttons, what truly hurt her more than anything was watching the recourse of her friends. So many of them were hurt- much more than she- by the situation, and her desire to protect them, her desire to keep them stable, began to contort her personality. She hated watching them suffer whether from their families or from other things in recourse. She could always pick herself up- her dream was still art work through ice.. she still had something outside of that, but others didn’t…
And it was in this way she was manipulated to begin conspiring against the system, to reclaim what was lost- what was theirs, what was hers. It was her right too, but it was for them. It was for them; it was for them. It was for Saverio and everyone else- those she considered an extension of family, that she would do whatever was necessary. She trained more in secret, studied harder than she ever had before in a variety of subjects. She’d make herself smarter, stronger, better. It would be for them, somehow… somehow.
She started college outside of the island going into fashion design and seemingly uninterested in the succession or the Shimon issues. Her parents were proud enough- if still a little disappointed, and it gave her a chance to get away. While she studied hard, Avril never let her mind forget the words that she had been left with. She’d train- because soon enough they would correct the succession. When the call came in, she went back to the island and stood shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the group righting the succession even at the cost of some blood. Turns out she was more of a sadist than anyone thought- whelp.
Regaining the position as Glacier guardian, she’d go on to follow after Saverio, doing what work was asked of her and slowly allowing her heart to be contorted by loyalty. It is known as the most defensive flame for this reason, yet with the capacity to launch ice shard at the tip of this iceberg, its attack strength shouldn’t be underestimated.
“Crystal” Mirrors: As a master of her flames and an artist of design, Avril created this technique as a testament to her own creativity. Utilizing some water source, Avril causes the water to freeze to ice and raise out of the water to create a set of twenty ice “mirrors” (each five foot by five foot and anywhere from two to three inches thick) that she can manipulate around her foe and herself up to thirty feet away. Around herself, they act in a defensive manner being as hard as diamond and capable of deflecting many attacks. However, considering they are moveable and volatile, there are ways to get around them unlike in the original design of Diamond Castle of Adelheid Suzuki.
What makes this technique more deadly, however, is the fact that she can manipulate them to extend two foot spokes on themselves and send them launching at her foe in a coordinated manner akin to an iron maiden. However, again, considering they are larger blocks, they are hard to coordinate in a perfect manner, and they are capable of being dodged if one is fast enough. Also those with dense enough flame are capable of cracking them and thus rendering them useless. The entire move can only be maintained for up to six posts and is incredibly flame draining requiring a six post wait time before any other technique can be used.
Ice Shards: Requiring less water and flame than her other attack, Avril is capable of freezing water (and sometimes even humid enough air) into varying sizes of ice shards some as big as three meters in length and a meter in diameter depending on what she has at her disposal. Capable of launching up to ten of these shards repeatedly at different targets at once, Avril can keep this going for up to five posts baring she isn't injured or distracted. However, a four post cool down is required after such strenuous maneuvers. Due in part to her artistic nature, Avril has shown the capacity to mold these ice shards into various designs and configurations fitting her mood and desire at the time- though it does take more concentration in order to get things the way she wants them to be.
